Regenexx PL is not Stem Cells

Stem Cells and Platelet-Rich Plasma Stem Cell Activation

An important point to note is that there is no debate that freshly isolated Adult Stem Cells which have not been activated are essentially useless as opposed to Adult Stem Cells which have undergone proper activation.

In platelet-rich plasma applications Growth Factors  from the patient’s own circulating blood platelets are used to activate the Adult Stem Cells harvested from the same patient.

Healing is a complex process, involving a mechanism of complex cascading regulatory events at both the molecular and cellular levels.  Growth factors are secreted by a wide variety of cells to regulate the wound healing process in an orderly manner. Over the last decade, various Growth factors, including platelet-derived growth factor have been used to accelerate the healing process.

Advanced Orthopedic Stem Cell Procedure for Degenerated Lumbar Disc
Orthopedic Stem Cell Procedures for Joints and Degenerated Lumbar Discs like Regenexx offer an exciting alternative for people suffering from degenerated discs and joint pain, or who may be considering invasive spinal fusion surgery, disc replacement, hip replacement or knee replacement. Now patients can avoid the long periods of downtime and painful rehabilitation that typically follow these invasive surgeries.

How does it Work?

We know that Stem Cells are in all of us and that they act as the repair cells of the body.

We also know that as we age or get injuries, we sometimes can’t get enough of these critical repair cells into the area they are needed in.

Unlike Regenexx procedures our Orthopedic Stem Cell Procedures solve this problem by placing expanded and activated Stem Cells.

These Orthopedic Stem Cell procedures begins by taking Stem Cells from your body. This is done under local anesthesia on an out patient basis.

These stem cells are then expanded and activated over a period of time, typically 20-22 days.

Regenexx does not include this important processing time.
The expanded and activated cells are then injected into the disc in need of repair. This is done with image guidance from fluoroscopy.

Typically these Stem Cells have expanded to up to 1,000 times more than Regenexx harvested cells and they are now activated and stimulated for the job ahead.

We have seen success in over 90% of patients in 6-12 months.

What makes our procedures different than Regenexx same day stem cell procedures?

Regenexx Orthopedic Stem Cells and Platelet Lysate Treatments

Regenexx Stem Cell Centers (US), use techniques where the cells are processed and injected the same day. These procedures are significantly less likely to result in any long term improvements. In our process your cells are cultured for about two weeks to get more cells and activated to insure long term results.

The requirement is to deliver a much greater numbers of activated stem cells to the injured area than a simple one day process can achieve.

Don’t be fooled by so called super platelets, getting Stem Cells to expand and become the necessary repair cells takes the correct amount of time and activation agents.

Can Stem Cells still be injected to a leaking disc?
It is quite common that these cases have leaking discs. Since we inject 20 Million autologous stem cells into the disc the majority will remain within the disc. From previous experience we have noticed that it’s even good to have some cells “leaking” out of the disc due to the stem cells anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties. This can help the damaged exiting nerve root to recover and this relieve pain as well.
